About Hong Kong City BBQ

Located at 5301 FL-7, Tamarac, FL 33319, Hong Kong City BBQ operates as a chinese restaurant serving Tamarac in Florida. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as asian restaurant, barbecue restaurant, chinese noodle restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Tamarac; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Florida are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–9:30 pm. It is closed on Monday. I was very very impress by the quality of the Dim Sum. It was fresh and taste amazingly delicious. The staff seemed nice but they weren't too attentive but that's not a big deal. The restaurant was small and clean but it wasn't that busy. The food took a lot longer than it should. I guess i was in a good mood cause it didn't bother me. This is probably the best dimsum place in Broward so far I've been to πŸ‘πŸ‘

Can I give 10 stars?? The lady that took care of me, and was also taking care of the front counter and take out was a sweetheart!! The lobster with ginger and scallions was SO GOOD & SO FRESH!! So was the yu choi sum. I left very full, and EXTREMELY happy!!

We drove an hour to HK City BBQ, a small, family-run hole-in-the-wall tucked into an old strip mall. I’ve been here a couple of times before, and while they do some things really well, other items can be hit or miss. What I highly recommend: the Cantonese wonton soup for two. The dumpling wrappers are perfectly thin, and the wonton filling is flavorful and well-seasoned. The yu choy is sautΓ©ed simply with fresh sliced garlic β€” fresh, vibrant, and exactly how it should be. And the water chestnut pudding is THE BEST. It’s such a hard-to-find dim sum item, and honestly one of the main reasons we’re willing to travel this far to eat here. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the char siu (chashu). I ordered a pound to go, and when I got home, it turned out to be mostly hardened, fatty, gristly pieces. I ended up throwing most of it away. That was especially frustrating considering my girlfriend and I left a $30 tip on a $100 bill. To be fair, most Chinese restaurants aren’t known for warm service, but our waiter was friendly and attentive, and he did a good job. Overall, I’ll return for the specialties they execute well β€” but I’ll definitely skip the char siu next time.

Good food and large menu. The were out of a few items for Dim Sum but what came out was good, we had: eggplant stuffed with shrimp, Singapore noodles (yum), pork buns, dumplings, shrimp shumai, shrimp toast, crispy duck, sweet sour chicken, salt and pepper shrimp (yum). Service was good and prices as well.
